The season is officially "on". We started out with a bang against De La Salle winning our first six matches
of the night by pin. The final score was 54 to 21 Dakota. Next it was the much anticipated rivalry match
with Chippewa Valley. Our line up was not where we wanted it to be with Alpha's and injuries being a big
factor, but we improvised as best we could and took away a victory of sorts in displaying our toughness and
tenacity although it was a losing effort to the tune of a 47-22 loss. We look forward to a possible rematch
in the district finals in February.

Over the weekend we sent the A team to Ferndale where we had 8 top 5 placers, freshmen Ryan Karem was
2nd at 103, and classmate Kenny Seeley was third at 125 wrestling up a weight. Dom DeRita was 4th at
130, Greg Day pinned his way through the tournament at 135, Jared Wilkes was second at 140, as was
Alex Bloomquist at 160. Troy Ciarmella and Ryan Benoit finished 5th as did Shane Mcmanaman at 215.
Ryan Tilney finished 6th at Heavyweight.

The B team went to Berkley where freshman Brain Cotter was 4th, Jeremy Wronosky also finished 4th at
140, and Nick Tassopolis was 6th at 119.

This weekend we are off to the tough Salem individual tournament, and next weekend is the Macomb
    County Invite.

My staff and I feel we are about where we should be right now, and we look forward to the challenges of the
coming weeks. Also, keep up the great work and support families, we are blessed!

We are "here". The season is upon us at last. We have been very impressed with attendance and effort in
our intense pre-season routine. Monday we begin the real deal. Physicals and a clean bill of skin health will
be required. We will begin the season with basic takedowns and takedown defense the first week and hope
to go "live" by Thursday or Friday. The boys are definitely "chomping at the bit" to get at each other, the
early practices promise to be high intensity.

Looking forward to our first big challenge a few weeks away, at Chippewa Valley for a preview of what
could be the District finals!  Lets show up, give our all, and hopefully get a ton of fan support. When the
dust clears we will see where we rank!

Welcome to the 2009/10 season! We have begun pre-season conditioning which will run Mon, Wed, Fri
from 3:15pm to 4:45pm until the season starts Nov 16th. We are working on conditioning, endurance and
flexibility along with critical weight training. To participate and get a jump on the competition, all you
need is to show up with work out gear and a current physical.

We worked hard this spring and summer running two excellent "howngrown" camps with our staff and
some special guests and the improvement is obvious. We open in just about 7 weeks at Chippewa Valley
who will be bringing back an outstanding team on December 3rd. No time to waste so make sure you join
as soon as you can and show up ready to work as hard as possible!

I will be updating "Coaches Corner" as time and need permits, so make sure you take the time to check in
when you can and contact us with any questions or comments.

    GO COUGARS!!!
